Book Review - Connecting the dots

Unlike any other management or personality/self development or a motivational book, this is different, its about 20 interesting entrepreneurs without an MBA or a rich background who went on to find their destiny, who have made their living in whatever they are passionate about and who have proved that "attitude matters".

From the author of Stay hungry Stay Foolish, (though i have not read it) i have heard lot about it so didn't mind picking this one from the same author. The author has idnetified 20 entrepreneurs who went behind their passion to achieve big things. While each story could have been made a single book, the author has tried to cover the essentials in a 15 page for each of them. It could have been a tough job composing in just 15 pages and making sure you don't miss the ritght points. There's no management techniques or jargons, steps to follow or motivational phrases, its all pure facts about simple people.

You'll come to know the raw reality behind some of the brands and i bet you would not even have thought that such a story existed behind those lucrative brands.

Some of them which interested me -

Prof.mahadevan, a economics professor who quit his job and went on to work in a hotel just because he was impressed after reading arthur hailey's "hotel". He is the owner of hotbreads, oriental cuisine, copper chimney, zara and what not.

R Sriram who worked in landmark out of pure passion for boooks and later built indias largest bookstore chain crossword.

Kalyan Varma, a software geek in yahoo, quit his job and lived in the jungles shooting wildlife photos. He now works with the BBC and earns more than a IT professional.

There's much more interesting stories, do check it out. If you had identified the dots you would try to connect the dots ; if not you might atleast see new dots on the horizon - once you read this book :-) .
My Verdict: Depends on the readers, you might be absolutely bored (if only you don have the taste for such books) or you might be glued to this and end up talking about each entreprenuer. - I found it very interesting.
